Northern Irish drummer, Rebecca Montgomery first developed her passion for rhythm whilst studying at Methodist College Belfast. Throughout her school career she performed regularly in numerous venues including annual appearances in the Waterfront Hall.

She became known on the jazz scene through her debut with the Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra in 2005. Over seven years, the opportunities presented by the orchestra’s director Ken Jordan encouraged her to pursue a career as a professional musician.

In 2009, she began studying for her music degree with the University of Ulster. After graduating in 2012, she went on to play at numerous jazz festivals and events over Ireland, which also involved theatre tours such as: Rick Swann Presents ‘Satchmo’ and Fiona Scott Trotter Presents ‘An Evening with Ella’.

Although experienced in different genres, Rebecca’s rhythmic touch lies in jazz.
A number of highly respected musicians on the circuit have encouraged and mentored her along the way - John Trotter, Fiona Scott Trotter, Rick Swann, Linley Hamilton, Gay McIntyre, Paul McIntyre and David Lyttle, to name only a few. She continues to play with some of these musicians on a regular basis.

Rebecca performs weekly and continues to share her unique style, development and passion as a professional drummer to audiences everywhere.
